Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Yakima, Washington. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 17 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in a Level III trauma center. This 17-week contract provides an opportunity to work in a busy, high-acuity emergency department with a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics. The ER is configured in zones, with a focus on trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and pediatric emergencies, requiring versatile clinical skills. Job Details: Schedule: Nights: 7 p.m. 7 a.m., 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week. Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Two years of recent experience in a high-volume emergency department with high acuity patients and pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Point of Care Labs, managing medication drips, blood product administration, triage, and the ability to set up chest tubes, arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, splinting, BiPAP/ventilation, and a strong understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI). Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred. Patient Types: Neonate to geriatric, including trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and substance use disorder cases. Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity; fast track with 13 beds in green zone. EMR system used is Epic. Additional Information: Flexibility required for every other weekend work, with rare back-to-back weekend shifts. No on-call required. Operator must pass hospital triage test before performing triage.
