Responsibilities include acquiring basic knowledge and developing skills in a specific practice area, applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment, exercising limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work, understanding quality program, performing basic design tasks, assisting on other tasks such as preparation of permit applications, material testing, and CADD work, receiving close supervision on unusual or difficult problems, and general review of all aspects of work, interacting with staff, general public, officials, and contractors, engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues, strong technical/qualitative writing ability, strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines, knowledge of and ability to apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of civil engineering to construction projects, high level of energy; great at problem solving, and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program, EIT Certification (Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam), 2 years of experience required, experience or knowledge of Iowa SUDAS and/or Iowa DOT Standard Plans and Specifications.

Compensation is estimated to be $80,000 to $95,000. Actual compensation is dependent upon education, experience, and skills.
