No benefits are associated with this position. Position Summary The Summer Helper assists the Head Custodian in cleaning the school and prepping the school facility for the next school year. Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in custodial work. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships. Ability to work independently. Handle multiple tasks and prioritize activities with minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Functions Sweeps, mops, and washes interior floors and stairways. Washes windows. Moves, dusts, and washes furniture. Collects and disposes of rubbish. Operates hand and power equipment such as mowers and scrubbers. Cuts grass. Trims shrubs. Physical Requirements Standing and/or walking for long periods, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, moving furniture or equipment, walking several hours per day in hallways and outside. Ability to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures) is required. Work Environment The work may be performed outside in seasonal temperatures as well as inside buildings. It may occur during daylight and night hours. Flexibility and patience are required. The job may involve working with ropes, dollies, carts, locks, pylons, and furniture that need to be moved or carried to other areas. Self‑motivation and the ability to complete assignments without direct supervision are essential.
