Why This Role Exists

Due to steady workload and continued custom machine-building projects, Berran Industrial Group is adding a Manual Machinist to support low-volume, precision component production.

This role plays a key part in building custom automation systems, precision assemblies, and specialty equipment — not high-quantity production work. Every project is unique and built to order.

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

• Set up and operate manual Bridgeport mills (primary focus)
  
• Perform manual lathe work as needed
  
• Select tooling, indicate parts, and verify workholding
  
• Machine low-volume, custom components
  
• Read blueprints and work from sketches/designs
  
• Hold tolerances appropriate to precision machine-building work
  
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspection
  
• Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, and standard shop measuring tools
  
• Maintain a safe, organized work area
  

This is hands-on machining — not button-pushing production.

Machines:

• Bridgeport-style manual mills (newer 5HP machines)
  
• Manual lathes
  

Tooling:

• NMBT tooling systems
  

Inspection Tools:

• Micrometers
  
• Calipers
  
• Dial indicators
  

Materials You'll Work With

• Aluminum

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Manual machining experience (mill and/or lathe)
  
• Ability to read blueprints
  
• Experience using precision measuring tools
  
• Strong attention to detail
  
• Reliable and safety-focused
  

Preferred (Not Required):

• Bridgeport experience
  
• Experience in custom machine building
  
• Experience working in low-volume environments
