AV Technician

This role focuses on installing and wiring low-voltage audio-visual systems in commercial environments. You will work with cabling, speakers, projectors, and related equipment to deliver reliable and high-quality AV solutions while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Pull electronic low-voltage cables, including Cat 6 and other structured cabling, in commercial settings.
• Perform basic wiring and installation of audio-visual systems according to project specifications and industry standards.
• Mount and suspend loudspeakers, projectors, and projection screens securely and safely.
• Install and wire 70-volt sound systems and sound reinforcement systems for various commercial applications.
• Use cable testing equipment to verify cable integrity and system performance.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during installation and construction activities.
• Meet all installation deadlines by organizing tasks, coordinating with team members, and following project schedules.
• Maintain accurate records on timesheets, service and installation tickets, and inventory items.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures and maintain full compliance with both company and customer safety programs.
• Assist with general construction-related tasks as needed to support AV installation work.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with low-voltage cabling, including pulling, routing, and terminating cables such as Cat 6.
• Ability to perform basic wiring and installation of audio-visual systems.
• Skill in mounting and suspending loudspeakers, projectors, and projection screens.
• Experience installing and wiring 70-volt sound systems and sound reinforcement systems.
• Basic proficiency in using cable testing equipment to verify proper cable function.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction and AV installation.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, hardware, and mounting systems.
• Capability to perform heavy lifting required for equipment, materials, and construction tasks.
• Experience working in construction or commercial installation environments.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate completion of timesheets, service and installation tickets, and inventory tracking.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and complying with all safety programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous construction experience supporting installation or trades work.
• Experience in electrical or low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and follow basic installation instructions and site directions.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, and site contacts.

Work Environment

This position is based in commercial construction and installation environments, working primarily on-site at customer locations. You will perform AV installations in active construction or finished commercial spaces, which may involve ladders, lifts, and working in ceilings or other elevated areas. The work involves regular heavy lifting, handling of tools and equipment, and extended periods of standing, walking, and manual labor. You will use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment daily while coordinating with other trades and site personnel in a fast-paced, project-driven setting. Attire should be appropriate for construction sites, including durable work clothing and safety gear as required by the job and site-specific safety rules.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $25.00/hr.
