Financial Analyst - Construction

Financial Analyst Location: Cartersville, Georgia Work Arrangement: Onsite Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Hiring Authority / Senior Leadership Position Overview We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team in Cartersville, Georgia. This is a newly created position designed to support continued company growth by providing leadership with deeper insight into financial and operational performance. The Financial Analyst will work across accounting, project management, and operations to gather and analyze financial and operational information, identify trends and opportunities, and translate data into clear business recommendations. This is not a transactional accounting position focused primarily on accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or data entry. We are looking for an analytical and inquisitive professional who wants to understand why the numbers look the way they do and what the company can do to improve them. Key Responsibilities Consolidate, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data from multiple areas of the business. Analyze profitability and performance across projects, markets, and management teams. Evaluate labor costs, material costs, gross margins, operating expenses, and other key financial metrics. Identify trends and investigate the underlying causes of differences in financial performance. Analyze why certain projects, markets, or management teams consistently produce stronger margins than others. Identify financial risks, operational inefficiencies, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement. Develop financial models, reports, and analyses to support business decisions. Provide leadership with actionable recommendations based on financial and operational findings. Evaluate potential investments, spending decisions, processes, and operational changes. Research and evaluate software, technology, and other tools that could improve efficiency or generate meaningful cost savings. Partner with accounting, project management, and operations teams to obtain accurate information and develop a complete understanding of business performance. Present financial findings and recommendations clearly to leadership and other stakeholders. Assist leadership in identifying opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and long-term business performance. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a strong financial analyst and critical thinker who is naturally curious and wants to dig deeper than the numbers presented in a report. You should be comfortable asking questions such as: Why is one project more profitable than another? Why does one management team consistently outperform another? Where are we losing margin? What processes are creating unnecessary costs? Where could technology improve efficiency? Where should the company invest, and where should spending be reduced? Preferred Qualifications Experience in financial analysis, business analysis, FP&A, or a similar analytical role. Strong financial modeling and data-analysis skills. Ability to interpret financial information and translate it into business insights. Strong Excel and analytical skills. Ability to identify trends, investigate variances, and determine the underlying causes of financial results. Strong communication and presentation skills. Comfortable working cross-functionally with accounting, operations, and project management. A proactive, inquisitive approach to problem-solving. Ability to make recommendations based on data rather than simply reporting results. Industry Experience Construction or project-driven industry experience is preferred but not required. Experience in general contracting, specialty contracting, manufacturing, construction, or another project-based environment could provide a strong foundation for this role. Direct commercial drywall experience is not required . The successful candidate should understand, or be able to quickly learn, how labor, materials, project management, operational decisions, and overhead expenses ultimately impact profitability.
