Job Summary Position is responsible for various types of roof repair and maintenance. Essential Duties 1. Repairs several different types of roofs throughout the school system, including built-up, modified, bitumen, metal and shingle roofs.
2. Makes decisions on own initiative regarding the best procedure for making roof repairs.
3. Cuts out and repairs roof blisters, buckles, wrinkles, fish mounts and otherwise deteriorated roof areas.
4. Seeks out and repairs roof leaks after finding sources of penetration.
5. Inspects roof areas and repairs potential problem areas before a real problem occurs.
6. Insures that roof drains are not stopped up and are free flowing.
7. Repairs fascia, flashing, coping, roof expansion joints and roof ventilators.
8. Utilizes computers to document materials and labor cost.
9. Reconciles P-Card transactions.
10. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required) Completion of standard high school or GED. Thorough knowledge of the standard practices, tools, and terminology of the sheet metal/roofing trade. Considerable journeyman roofing experience with ability to resolve roofing problems without assistance. Sufficient agility to climb ladders and work in confined spaces above and below ground. Skill in the performance of the roofing trade. Must possess a valid Virginia CDL Driver's License or obtain one within 6 months of hire. To view the ful job description,
