Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist to provide locum coverage at a Level II Trauma hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota . The ideal candidate must be able to take 24-hour call and perform intravitreal injections for retinal conditions , along with cataract surgery and managing trauma cases in the clinic.

This coverage will supplement a team already in place — but must specifically fill the gap for intravitreal injection capability, including for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy cases.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform intravitreal injections (REQUIRED)

• Provide cataract surgery and trauma-related ophthalmology care

• 24-hour call coverage including pager duty

• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

• Documentation via Epic EMR

• Maintain availability for call-back during on-call hours

✅ Qualifications

• Board Certified in Ophthalmology (REQUIRED)

• Must provide case logs (60 cases in past 12 months)

• Experience with intravitreal injections is mandatory

• Must hold an ND license or IMLC with LOQ in hand

• Active DEA license required

Working Hours

• Clinic : Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (with pager)

• Call Coverage :

  • 24-hour call on weekends (7 AM – 7 AM)

  • Weekday pager + call-back as needed

Skills

• Proficiency in intravitreal injections for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy

• Skilled in cataract surgery and managing ophthalmic trauma

• Comfortable working independently in a hospital setting

• Familiarity with Epic EMR

• Strong decision-making and patient care skills during 24-hour call coverage
