Our Stores Team Members are the heart of the customer experience. Every day, you bring a friendly attitude, help customers find the gear that fuels their next adventure, share your passion for sports and the outdoors, and keep the store looking sharp and ready for customers. The environment is active, fast paced, and high-energy, which is exactly what makes it fun.

Whether you’re guiding someone to the perfect product or learning new skills behind the scenes, you play a key role in helping more people enjoy more sports and outdoors.

What You Will Work On

In this role, you will help customers enjoy more sports and outdoor activities by making their store visits during their busiest season easier, friendlier, and more productive. You may support customers in sales, cashier, merchandising, and receiving work, giving you a broad view of how the store operates. Your efforts influence service, sales, store readiness, and the overall customer experience.

You move where the store and its customers need support most, whether that means helping someone find the right product, completing checkout transactions, preparing merchandise for the sales floor, or keeping pricing and signage accurate. Throughout each shift, the work requires attention to detail, product knowledge, and a willingness to learn new processes. By keeping merchandise organized and store areas ready, you help the team serve customers quickly during a high-volume season.

Who You Will Work With

You work alongside store team members across cashier, merchandising, receiving, and sales functions. Collaboration is hands-on and fast-moving, with the team shifting attention as customer traffic and store priorities change. Clear communication and dependable follow-through help everyone maintain a welcoming, organized store.

You also connect directly with customers, listen to understand what they need, and use store and product knowledge to guide them. Whether you are answering a question, locating an item, or supporting checkout, each interaction contributes to a smooth and friendly visit.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous related work experience preferred
• Ability to learn and adapt to a wide range of processes and procedures
• Engaging customer service skills supported by effective listening and speaking
• Basic math skills and the ability to understand instructions through reading and writing
• Proficiency using a handheld or desktop computer, point-of-sale equipment, and a telephone
• Ability to learn and recall Academy products and services, understand customer needs, and provide assistance
• A team-first attitude; while your core duties are your priority, you're happy to step in wherever you're needed

Work Style & Physical Requirements

• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs
• Capability to remain on your feet and move throughout the store for extended periods during scheduled shifts
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, handle items, and use repetitive hand, wrist, and finger motions throughout the shift
• Ability to stoop, crouch, grasp, push, and pull frequently, and balance occasionally
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs constantly, 21 to 40 lbs frequently, and 41 to 60 lbs occasionally
• Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to follow company policies, procedures, professional standards, and safety rules

Targeted Pay Range: $15.00 - $23.00. The starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, certifications, and position offered. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
