Event Planning Manager Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel & Spa (Schulte Hospitality Group) is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented Event Planning Manager to join our team. We operate more than 200 locations across 38 states and 3 countries, including brands such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG, and Hyatt, as well as unique independent boutique and lifestyle properties. Job Duties and Responsibilities Learn the hotel brand and strategy. Drive customer loyalty and grow the account share by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Identify and solicit new accounts through telemarketing, appointments, site tours, cold calls, and inquiries via email, phone, and in person. Provide advice to clients on all aspects of hotel facilities and services when proposing and contacting groups and events. Establish a client base of organizations, associations, and corporate businesses through direct sales efforts to secure business for the hotel. Negotiate food, beverage, function space, room rates, and hotel services that meet or exceed revenue goals. Achieve all predetermined sales goals for revenue and sales activity. Negotiate contracts according to company standards. Ensure all solicitation, closing, and customer communications are complete and documented. Accurately record all bookings or lost business. Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures. Respond promptly and accurately to all client requests for proposals and information. Assist clients in menu planning, coordinate food, beverage, table arrangements, and decorations ensuring execution of client details. Monitor local competitors and compare their operation with ours. Maintain existing accounts with an active trace/follow‑up system. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports as directed by the DOS/GM. Participate in quarterly and annual business and marketing plans, assisting with budget process. Perform other duties as assigned to meet business objectives. Education and Skills High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years in hotel or conference catering/sales. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Effective verbal and written communication. Excellent listening and problem‑solving skills. Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members.
