Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level I trauma facility, requiring CA RN license and 3+ years of ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU units of a Level I trauma hospital
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 0700-1930
• Weekend rotation required, no on-call responsibilities
• Floating required as needed
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active California RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
• CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
• 3 years of ICU experience required, 4 years preferred
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required include chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, suctioning, and ventilator management
• Renal skills required include management of chronic/acute renal failure, with CRRT/CVVHD preferred
• Medication management skills required include continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Neurological skills required include CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post neurosurgery management, and spinal cord injury care, with hypothermia protocol and TBI care preferred
• Cardiovascular skills required include PA line/Swan Ganz monitoring, sheath removal, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, VAD management, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and multisystem organ dysfunction management, with ECMO and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring preferred
• GI surgery experience required
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy skills required
• IV insulin protocol experience required
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing in a Neuro and Surgical ICU setting
• Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate eligibility
• Former employees must have been separated for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• First-time travelers may be considered if all requirements are met
