Transportation Director

Primary Purpose
Direct and manage the district's transportation department to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation services for all eligible students. Provide leadership in planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating all transportation operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications Education/Certification
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred or ability to obtain
- School Bus Driver Certification required or ability to obtain
- Completion of required Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) school bus training
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation
- Knowledge of Texas DPS school bus regulations
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations preferred
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance programs preferred
- Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate personnel preferred
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop efficient bus routes preferred
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
