Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / PCU

Location

Glendale, CA | Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Must be available for 2 of 3 major holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Telemetry/PCU setting managing common diagnoses including cardiac conditions, CHF, chest pain, pneumonia, respiratory illness, and sepsis
• Monitor, read, and interpret telemetry strips using GE telepacks; monitor techs are available on all units but RNs must be independently able to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Administer and manage set-rate and titratable drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, and heparin
• Float to MedSurg, Rehab, or ICU/CCU as needed based on unit assignment and staffing requirements; travelers are typically first to float
• Collaborate with Patient Care Techs, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care
• Adhere to modified self-scheduling guidelines based on unit staffing needs; no block scheduling available

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• EKG interpretation course/certification required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio experience: 1:4 (most units) or 1:3 (6 North); candidates assigned to 6 North must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a CCU or high-acuity stepdown unit
• Strong customer service skills and a team-oriented approach are essential

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience preferred
• Experience with titratable drips (e.g., heparin) is a plus, though not required
• Ventilator exposure beneficial for 6 North candidates; respiratory therapy manages vent maintenance
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
