Registered Nurse - Clarion Wound Care Center

Essential job functions include maintaining professional and technical knowledge, assuring quality of care, protecting patients and employees, documenting patient care services, maintaining continuity among nursing teams, identifying patient care requirements, establishing a compassionate environment, promoting patient's independence, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, resolving patient problems, maintaining a cooperative relationship among health care teams, contributing to team effort, ensuring operation of equipment, maintaining nursing supplies inventory, providing direct oversight of the GN, LPN, Technical Partner, ALS Technician, Nurse Extern and Unit Clerks, coordinating communications between patients/families and physician practice, pharmacies, specialists, and insurance carriers, providing advice based on protocols and physician instructions, facilitating patient's access to prescription refills based on physician order, obtaining prior authorizations and/or assisting with indigent programs per physician order based on the patient's financial status or insurance coverage, completing medication reconciliation according to policy, providing continuity of care for patients in collaboration with physicians, evaluating adherence to the Clinical Pathway for assigned patient group in collaboration with physician, demonstrating competence in patient and family education including etiology, comprehensive wound care, dressings, edema control, specialty foot care and life style changes, adhering to all policies/procedures for HBOT patient care/safety, assisting HBOT technician with patient care as needed, completing HBOT training course if deemed necessary for center operations, RN HBO trained, accomplishing all supportive tasks/duties assigned and deemed to be safe by the program safety coordinator, attending IHEAL training, entering patient assessment and visit information accurately and according to policy, completing Level of Care accurately, and other related duties as assigned.

Competency and experience required include a graduate of an accredited Nursing Program, one (1) year Med/Surg experience, strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice, and strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred qualifications/experience include a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, previous experience in an outpatient office setting, National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy Certification Board (NAWCCB): credential is Wound Care Certified (WCC), Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB): credential Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN), and American Board of Wound Management (ABWM): credential Certified Wound Specialist (CWS).

License, certification, and clearances required include current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania, current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program, Act 33 with renewal, Act 34 with renewal, and Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.). Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
