About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Med Surg/Telemetry Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Total joint experience - Understanding of PCA pumps and reversal drugs (Narcan) - Experience with TPN/Lipids - Surgical experience Description: Unit accepts local clinicians. MUST have EPIC experience. The unit focuses on inpatient surgical care. Total of 48 beds available across two buildings. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-6 on nights. The unit has LPNs available and features virtual admission and discharge nurses to assist. A primary care nursing model is frequently utilized, and candidates must be comfortable with this model. Common types of patients include those with neuro conditions, abdominal surgeries, joint replacements, and various critical care needs. Experience with PICC, TPN, Lipids, dialysis catheter insertion, and management of sepsis is important. Nurses are required to assess, interpret strips, and collaborate with tele/monitor techs on the unit. A charge nurse may take a smaller assignment to assist the staff. Night shifts often have increased CNA needs. Shifts are three 12-hour shifts starting at 7. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating is only to like units, with no patient load when floated to higher acuity. The environment is fast-paced and includes significant patient admissions and discharges. Minimum cancellation policy applies. Experience in managing equipment such as CPAP and Bipap is beneficial.
