This is an 0.4 FTE continuing contract Speech Language Pathologist position effective the 2026-2027 school year. This position does not include benefits. Anticipated schedule is two 7.75‑hour days per week. Salary listed is the 2025-2026 rate. Minimum Requirements Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a Speech Language Pathologist. Applicants with a master's degree in speech language pathology, audiology or communication disorders are encouraged to apply. The district will assist selected candidates with obtaining an Educational Staff Associate certificate. Job Title SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST Job Summary Speech Language Pathologists conduct evaluations to determine eligibility of students for speech and language services and provide those services to eligible students. Responsibilities Participate as a team member responsible for identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language‑impaired students. Assist in developing and monitoring Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students. Develop therapy schedules and provide Speech Language Pathology services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through age 21, per their IEP. Evaluate, implement, and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students, including those for deaf and hard‑of‑hearing students. Plan and provide clear, intentional focused instruction based upon individual IEP goals. Recognize individual learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs to promote individual achievement. Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment to promote effective student behavior and success. Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community to foster student success and meet special‑education laws and policies. Participate in and facilitate meetings to address student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies. Engage in continuing education studies to ensure professional growth. Maintain accurate records/documents as required by state, federal regulations, and district policy. Direct work of classified staff and SLPA. Fulfill legal responsibilities, implement, and comply with federal and state laws, district policies, and State Code of Professional Conduct. Perform other duties of similar scope and function. Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Knowledge of applicable Washington State and federal rules and regulations; subject‑matter/course content relevant to the assignment. Knowledge and understanding of child development; current assistive technology. Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits. Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement. Knowledge and skills in designing and conducting specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation. Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness, including cultural responsiveness. Ability to interact and collaborate positively with parents, students, staff, and administration. Effective written and verbal communication skills with diverse people. Demonstrated cultural competence and respect for all cultural heritages. Ability to identify and address personal, cultural, and institutional bias. Organizational, time‑management, and record‑keeping skills. Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs; ability to maintain confidentiality. Commitment to strengthen job‑related competencies. Education Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate as a School Speech Language Pathologist. Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred. Preferred Experience Successful and recent experience as a speech language pathologist in a school setting; student cultural and economic diversity experience. Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
