What You'll Do Own Rig Operations: Supervise the scheduling, design, and day-to-day execution of a modern horizontal drilling rig line, ensuring safety, efficiency, and strict cost control. Drive Engineering Design: Formulate detailed drilling prognoses, casing designs, and directional well plans, ensuring they seamlessly integrate with future completions and reservoir objectives. Navigate Complex Basin Mechanics: Adapt fundamental engineering knowledge to handle high-variance technical challenges, including drilling ancient lakebeds and managing specialized fluid, pressure, and downhole parameters. Lead Sourcing & Vendor Management: Actively scout, bid, contract, and manage critical rig equipment and oilfield service providers in a highly constrained market that requires creative, proactive problem-solving. Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work directly with operational geologists, landmen, and reservoir engineers to review real-time data streams, perform post-appraisals, and continuously optimize economics. Ensure Multi-Jurisdictional Compliance: Partner with the land team to navigate and secure necessary drilling permissions across a complex regulatory landscape involving BLM fee lands and tribal territories. Who You Are A Master of Drilling Fundamentals: The ideal candidate possesses a well-rounded understanding of drilling engineering and field execution, rather than a highly siloed or purely administrative background from a supermajor. An Adaptable Problem Solver: The engineer must have a solid foundation in complex or non-standard well construction and easily pivot those skills to a unique geological target.
