Instructional Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Learning Assistants (LAs) for HONOR 301 are motivated undergraduate students at the Presidential Leadership Academy who support instructors and peers in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. LAs collaborate closely with faculty to enhance student learning through active engagement and peer support. Key Responsibilities Attend all scheduled class sessions and assist with in-class activities, group projects, and discussions. Meet regularly with the course instructor to align goals, expectations, and weekly plans. Communicate effectively with the instructor, fellow LAs (if applicable), and enrolled students. Provide peer support by explaining course concepts to individuals or small groups. Prepare for teaching-related tasks such as reviewing materials, planning activities, or facilitating breakout sessions. Eligibility Requirements Must have successfully completed Honor 201, 301, 401 or 401A in the Presidential Leadership Academy. Remain in good social, financial, academic, and conduct standing with the University and with the Presidential Leadership Academy Be registered as a full‑time student for the Spring 2026 semester Strong communication abilities, both spoken and written Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and professionalism at all times Understand and promote the mission of the Presidential Leadership Academy and the principles of Penn State. Professionalism and demonstrated initiative Must be available during the scheduled class time. Compensation: $15.25/hour.
