Department: The Department of Theatre & Film Job Summary: Supervises a sound design area at a Research I University; conceptualizing and facilitating sound designs for departmental productions; preparing, tracking, and reconciling sound shop purchases and budgets; and providing support for audio engineering for each event in the department’s production facilities. Job Description: Responsibilities include supervising a sound design area at a Research I University; conceptualizing and facilitating sound designs for departmental productions; preparing, tracking, and reconciling sound shop purchases and budgets; and providing support for audio engineering for each event in the department’s production facilities. Additional responsibilities will include collaboration with colleagues across various areas of the department and overseeing and maintaining the sound inventory for our production venues. Position details: The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a staff Sound Designer beginning Fall 2026. A bachelor’s degree in theatrical design/technology, or a related field, as well as two years of experience related to the position is preferred for this full-time twelve-month position. Job Responsibilities: Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role.
