RN - ICU

This RN will assume the care of admitted patients with varying diagnoses while they are boarding in the ED awaiting bed placement on an inpatient unit. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. Must have a DC license in hand or pending DC license accepted. Must have 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years and complete a minimum of 1 travel assignment. Every other weekend required. Float required to units of equivalent or lower level of acuity. Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms.

Skills required include Cerner, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, Titration of Insulin drips, Feeding tube care and management, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure, IV therapy/Phlebotomy, Starting IVs, Heparin Protocols, PCA, Nasal Cannula, Isolation Precautions. Skills preferred include Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.

Unit details include 140 rooms, 40 beds, and interdisciplinary support from Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and Transportation. Patient diagnoses include Neurology/Stroke, Orthopedics/Limb, Oncology, Transplant, End Stage Liver Disease, End Stage Kidney Disease, Gastroenterology.
