Site Supervisor

Summary / Objective Coordinate operations for the location. Ensure that all staffing and vehicle requirements are met on a day-to-day basis. Developing and timely maintenance of efficient routes. Field trip order and processing. To establish and maintain a dispatch check log that shows bus, driver and calls for am, mid‑day and pm dispatch. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. College work in management, accounting, human resources preferred. CDL license with appropriate endorsements and state certificates required. Computer literacy, preferably in MS Office products. Basic accounting, human resources, customer service and management skills needed. Excellent written and oral communications ability required. Ability to speak in public. Working knowledge of District and/or Parish and school bus operations needed. Training and recruiting skills required. Prior management experience in school bus operations is a plus. Responsibilities Supervise the driver workforce and coordinate daily operations (drivers, routing, vehicle activities) to assure excellent service and customer satisfaction. Maintain the highest level of ethical behavior with customers, employees and communities. Conduct field observations and evaluations of driver performance, pickup and drop‑off location procedure, passenger management. Work with dispatcher, discipline officer, field trip and routing personnel to obtain required skills and independence in job assignments. Maintain daily dispatch log including employee check‑in times, athletic trip schedules, bus & driver daily assignments. Instruct all staff on use of incident form and process; alert General Manager and relevant contacts for any injury, fight, assault, inappropriate behavior or sexual content. Establish employee check‑in and checkout times and schedules; review exceptions and monitor on‑time performance. Follow up on employee attendance policies; provide counseling, warnings, and recommend suspensions or terminations per company policy. Manage all employee and customer complaints using location incident reports and process. Supervise compliance of DS Bus policies; administer counseling and written warnings. Recommend employee terminations and discipline actions to the General Manager. Work with safety and training department to identify safety issues and unsafe stops. Conduct safety meetings and participate as needed. Coordinate bus cleanings and monitor interior cleanliness. Develop and maintain an efficient routing system using approved software. Drive a school bus and other vehicles safely and efficiently, as required. Prepare accurate information for timely state reporting. Assist with telephone, driver, and customer contact as needed; may complete other special projects or duties as assigned. Input work orders, invoices, and mileages into company maintenance software. Follow processing protocol to ensure accurate, complete, and timely maintenance records. Assist manager and other departments with written correspondence and reporting requirements. Assist manager in adhering to location purchasing and cost control measures. Perform administrative assistant duties: order office supplies, maintain office machines, stay within budget, prepare outgoing mail and deliveries. Competencies Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with emphasis on oral communication skills. Interact with a diverse group of individuals courteously and tactfully, and establish effective working relationships. Prioritize and multitask; work accurately under pressure and with interruptions. Work independently and in a team. Handle problems and stressful situations tactfully; apply proactive problem‑solving skills. Maintain confidentiality. Supervisory Responsibility Supervisory experience preferred; specific experience supervising a driver workforce. Work Environment Modern office procedures, practices and computer equipment and programs. Physical Demands Be able to tolerate heat in non‑air‑conditioned school buses; work in an environment with limited to moderate supervision, informal autonomy, variable pressures and paces; perform multiple tasks while concentrating on safety of children and their physical, mental, or emotional needs; tolerate diesel fuel fumes, odors, and moderate dust conditions. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work Work evenings or weekends as required. Required Education and Experience Working knowledge of two‑way radio equipment operation and dispatching devices. Appropriate dispatching policies and practices, or ability to learn within a reasonable time. Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and company standards, policies, and procedures related to transportation processes. Geographic knowledge of region, school locations, district bus routes, student transporting equipment. Ability to become familiar with district streets and roads, read maps, and learn about transportation equipment and student needs. Licensing and certifications to operate a school bus.
