Senior Underwriter / Underwriting Specialist - PL/Cyber

Position Summary Responsible for submission generation, underwriting, and policy issuance of Cyber & Technology Liability accounts, with potential to work on Miscellaneous Professional Accounts. This hybrid role (3 days onsite) is based in Chicago, IL. The position offered ranges from Senior Underwriter to Underwriting Specialist, depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Responsibilities and Accountabilities Build strong long‑term profitable relationships with agents, brokers, and policy holders. Evaluate applications and related materials to determine acceptability of risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards. Determine the need for additional evidence of insurability. Prepare quotes and answer questions from brokers, policy holders, or other external contacts; escalade issues to management with proposed solutions as necessary. Provide acceptable underwriting documentation for all assigned accounts. Articulate underwriting positions and reasons for such positions internally and externally. Provide monthly forecasts for new and renewal business and regular reconciliations to such forecasts. Monitor new business flow, quote ratio, and hit ratio from each target agency to identify variances to plan. Develop strategies to correct variances with each agency. Desired Skills and Abilities Strong relationships with wholesale and/or retail Cyber brokers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with senior‑level management. Knowledge of broader MPL classes of business is desirable. Highly motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team. Strong analytical, judgment, and mathematical skills. Effective negotiation skills. Education and Experience 3–7 years of professional lines underwriting experience (Cyber preferred). BA or BS, ideally with a degree or major in Risk Management & Insurance, Cyber Security, Economics, Business, Finance, or Accounting. Compensation and Benefits Position is incentive eligible. Base salary range: $100,000 – $140,000 per year plus bonus. Total individual compensation (base salary, short‑term and long‑term incentives) offered will consider geographic location, scope and responsibilities, qualifications, talent availability, specialization, and business needs.
