Job Description

This role involves setting up, laying out, tacking, and welding sheet metal and plate to construct high-quality customer parts and components using MIG and TIG welding processes. You will apply welds safely and accurately according to specifications, monitor welding operations to maintain material integrity, and contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient work area.

Responsibilities

• Set up, lay out, tack, and weld sheet metal or plate to build customer parts and components according to specifications and prints.
• Tack and weld metal parts together using MIG and/or TIG welding techniques to produce structurally sound assemblies.
• Apply welds safely and precisely to meet quality standards and complete finished products.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
• Perform porosity-free TIG and MIG welds to ensure strong, clean, and reliable weld joints.
• Interpret and follow blueprints and job prints to correctly set up and complete welding jobs.
• Follow and maintain strict adherence to safety regulations and company safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to clarify requirements and ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and a positive, proactive approach to daily tasks and assignments.

• At least 2 years of MIG and/or TIG welding experience.
• Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
• Proficiency in TIG welding with the ability to produce porosity-free welds.
• Ability to set up welding jobs from prints and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Blueprint reading skills to interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
• Excellent attendance and reliability.
• Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to take initiative.

• Experience working in a fabrication or metalworking environment.
• Comfort working with newer welding and fabrication equipment.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and job requirements in a smaller shop setting.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others on the shop floor.

You will join a smaller shop that offers a close-knit, family-oriented environment where your contributions are visible and valued. Work Environment

The role is based in a smaller fabrication shop that operates with a family-style, team-focused culture. You will work with newer welding and fabrication equipment, primarily using MIG and TIG processes on sheet metal and plate. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety regulations, clean and organized work areas, and consistent housekeeping practices. You can expect a hands-on, production-focused setting where clear communication, reliability, and safe work habits are essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Slinger, WI.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
