Special Education Teacher

Minimum of associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Experience in public school finance or governmental accounting preferred Background in accounts payable, payroll or general ledger Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of payroll deductions, retirement reporting, and compliance (W-9s, 403(b), HSA, garnishments, etc.) Experience working with vendors or outside agencies Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a professional office setting Skills & Abilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Effective communication skills for working with staff, administrators, vendors, and agencies. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in accounting systems, spreadsheets, and office technology required. Demonstrates independent problem‑solving and teamwork while working closely with the Director of Business. Knowledge of payroll, purchasing, and reporting requirements preferred. All work must align with Board of Education policies and applicable regulations. Job Responsibilities Process disbursements and maintain financial records (checks and electronic payments) Manage vendor files, purchase orders, and invoices Respond to inquiries and prepare payment history reports Maintain W-9 records and issue tax‑exempt certificates Oversee local grant accounting and usage billing (transportation/facilities) Assist with annual audit Payroll & Personnel Support Process payroll, including deductions, garnishments, and retirement reporting Assist employees with payroll questions and elective deductions (HSA, 403(b)) Administrative & Operational Collaborate with Director of Business and administrators Perform other duties as assigned. Note Final assignment may vary based on staffing needs. The District reserves the right to adjust roles as needed. Application Deadline: May 15, 2026, or until filled. Substitute Bus Driver Building District Preferred Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Commercial Driver License CDL group B with P & S endorsements Pass DOT physical examination requirements Meet District/Michigan Department of Education competency levels of driving skills Meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) standards of past driving performance Complete and pass first aid instruction to include C.P.R. High school graduate or equivalent Job Resonsibilities: Operate all types of vehicles in the fleet to transport pupils Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of your assigned vehicle as required Familiarity with the geographic service area of the District Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules, regulations, ordinances, and laws regarding school bus operation Alert and exercise good judgment concerning emergencies, disabled vehicles, and abnormal driving conditions. Conduct emergency evacuation drills as required Follow established schedules/routes Maintain appropriate fuel level of vehicle Maintain an acceptable standard of cleanliness of vehicle Monitor mechanical condition of vehicle per trip Report deficiencies to Mechanic using Daily Inspection Reports Drive safely and defensively at all times Maintain behavior logs as directed by the Superintendent or his/her designee Prepare and submit Bus Conduct Reports to the Superintendent or his/her designee May be requested to attend parent meetings by the Superintendent or his/her designee Establish and maintain acceptable working relationships with other drivers, maintenance personnel, bus attendants, teachers, students, principals and community Exhibit a positive image as a representative of the East Jordan Public School District. Skills and Abilities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
