Job Description: Position Overview: The accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing critical financial insights to support decision‑making. This role involves managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and utilizing Sage accounting software to maintain the integrity of the financial data. The accountant will work closely with the Finance Manager and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the finance department. Key Responsibilities Financial Transactions Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. Ensure all financial data is entered accurately and promptly into the Sage accounting system. Reporting and Analysis Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Conduct variance analysis and report on financial performance. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Compliance and Controls Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations. Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures. Reconciliation and Review Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts. Review and verify the accuracy of financial data and reports. Support and Collaboration Work closely with other departments to provide financial support and insights. Assist in developing and improving financial processes and systems. Provide support to the Finance Manager and other team members as needed. Qualifications Required Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience. Proficiency in using Sage accounting software. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a similar role within the finance department of a medium to large organization. CPA or equivalent professional certification.
