Overview Hours are 8a-5p, Monday through Friday. No Travel. Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinical Social Worker to join our team! This position will support the Bedford, TX location. What does the Clinical Social Worker do Participates in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders for patients needing psycho‑social assistance and provides knowledge of agencies offering services to patients and families. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Provides therapeutic counseling and assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral issues. If billing, documents session notes and billing requirements in a timely fashion. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the psychosocial impact of cancer on patients and families across the continuum of care, including diagnosis, advanced cancer, end‑of‑life care, and survivorship. Provides emotional support, crisis assessment and interventions to patients and families, and non‑pharmacologic support for pain, sleep, and other physical concerns. Active member of the medical interdisciplinary team, ensuring ongoing communication to facilitate understanding of identified patient and family needs. Participates in Value Based Care initiatives, including distress and depression screening follow‑up, advance care planning, and end‑of‑life conversations, documenting notes and billing in a timely fashion if billed. Assists and supports patients and families in transitions to survivorship issues. Conducts psychosocial needs assessments, considering social support, community resources, and coping mechanisms. Develops, maintains, and facilitates support groups to enhance quality of care and support. Coordinates support groups with local agencies to prevent duplication of services. Provides education to clinic staff about the role of a clinical social worker and related best practices. Provides information about community resources to patients and families. Maintains relationships with community agencies and providers to broaden support. Acts as an advocate to negotiate healthcare system access and facilitate communication between patients/families and the medical team. Documents all interventions accurately and in a timely manner; if billing, documents notes and billing requirements promptly. Provides professional presentations to groups and organizations about psycho‑social aspects of cancer experience. Participates in quality improvement activities; may supervise staff coordinating Social Services. Supervises MSW Student Interns, reviewing candidates, mentoring, and providing documentation training. Demonstrates knowledge of age‑specific differences in patient populations, including physiological, psychological, and developmental differences. Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program (CSWE). Minimum three‑ to five‑year experience preferred, working as a clinical social worker in healthcare; oncology, palliative care, or hospice experience desired. Valid Texas state master's clinical-level license, e.g., LCSW. Bilingual in Spanish (preferred). Physical Demands Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
