What You’ll Do Responsible for the financial analysis aspects of DCP investments and portfolio monitoring, including preparation and coordination of various financial reports and analyses. Deal Sourcing & Screening Researching emerging companies, industries, and market trends to identify potential investment opportunities Analyzing inbound pitch decks and business plans from founders Conducting initial screening calls or meetings with prospective portfolio companies Building and maintaining a pipeline/database of companies to track Due Diligence Analyzing a startup's business model, market size (TAM/SAM/SOM), competitive landscape, and growth potential Reviewing financial statements, cap tables, and unit economics Vetting the founding team's background and track record Speaking with customers, industry experts, or references to validate claims Financial Modeling & Valuation Building financial models to project revenue, burn rate, and runway Performing valuation analysis (comparable company analysis, discounted cash flow where applicable, venture capital method) Modeling potential returns and scenarios (best case, base case, downside case) Analyzing cap table dynamics and dilution across funding rounds Investment Memos & Presentations Drafting or reviewing investment memos summarizing the opportunity, risks, and recommendations Preparing materials and presentations for DCP Operations Team meetings Synthesizing diligence findings into clear, actionable recommendations for partners Portfolio Management & Monitoring Tracking financial and operational performance (KPIs) of portfolio companies Preparing quarterly or monthly portfolio reports for the fund and its LPs (limited partners) Flagging material changes in performance, runway, or valuation Maintain portfolio-level tracking of ownership positions, follow-on rights, pro rata allocations, and performance marks across the portfolio Produce ad hoc analyses: sector deep-dives, benchmarking against market data, exit scenario modeling Support organizational initiatives with data, charts, and presentation materials Helping portfolio companies with follow-on fundraising support, introductions, or strategic guidance Monitoring industry trends that could affect portfolio holdings Fund Operations & Reporting Assisting with financial administration tasks, such as capital calls and distributions Supporting investor reporting and communications Helping prepare materials for investor meetings or annual reports What You’ll Bring Work generally requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or a related business field. Experience No experience required for candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in a field of study related to the specific position. Skills OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Excellent customer service, interpersonal, team work, written communication and organizational skills. High attention to detail and ability to accurately analyze complex issues and data. Highly fluent working with complex databases and analytical software and AI tools. Experience with Duke systems and processes. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $61,026.00 to USD $88,434.00.
