Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 29-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a wide range of diagnoses including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, DVT, pulmonary embolisms, osteomyelitis, and comfort measures
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 5–6:1 on night shifts
• Titrate Heparin drips as required; manage patients with oxygen requirements up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP
• Perform IV starts and collaborate with unit resources and inpatient phlebotomy team as needed
• Monitor telemetry via house-wide telemetry department using primarily Philips equipment
• Float to other Medical Surgical-like units as needed; no ICU or chemotherapy patient assignments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN License (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS Certification required
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Availability for every-other-weekend requirement (Friday/Saturday for nights)
• Availability for rotating holiday coverage
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience on a Medical Surgical unit with high-acuity and diverse patient populations
• Familiarity with Heparin drip titration protocols
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and Philips equipment
• Comfort working with elderly patients and those requiring comfort care measures
