Job Description – Registered Nurse II – CONTINUOUS (260003K3) Overview This is an open and continuous posting for full‑time and part‑time positions on multiple shifts at Tewksbury Hospital operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH). The hospital is a 370‑bed Joint Commission accredited facility serving adults with medical and/or mental illnesses. Position Type: Full‑time or Part‑time; 24 or 32 hours per week on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift. Work Schedule: 1st shift: 6:45 am – 3:15 pm; 2nd shift: 2:45 pm – 11:15 pm; 3rd shift: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am. Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is required; other days off are assigned. Mandatory Overtime: Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime. Responsibilities The RN II/Staff Nurse provides direct care to patients ranging from 20 to 100+ years old with chronic and acute medical illness, often with co‑morbid mental illness or behavioral challenges. Responsibilities include: Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the direct and indirect care needs of patients. Collaborating with all disciplines to develop inclusive care plans. Providing direction and supervision to other staff. Maintaining accurate documentation, including patient assessment, plans of care, progress notes, and discharge referrals. Communicating patient information to healthcare professionals (MD, social services, dietary, other nursing staff, etc.). Participating in patient care and unit conferences, quality improvement activities, and shift change reports. Preparing nursing assignments based on patient needs and staff skills; assisting in orientation of new personnel. Managing charge and staff responsibilities as required. Understanding and initiating rules and regulations governing fire, bomb threats, and disaster situations. Serving on nursing and hospital committees and attending educational seminars to maintain licensure and enhance professional development. Qualifications Minimum of one year of full‑time or an equivalent part‑time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital or medical facility. Current and valid registration as a professional nurse in Massachusetts. Graduation from an approved nursing school required for recent graduates. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator’s license may be required based on assignment. Ability to work multiple shifts, including weekends, and to perform mandatory overtime. Substitutions A graduate degree with a major in nursing may be substituted for the required experience (education toward such a degree is prorated). Compensation Annual base salary for 40 hours per week: $86,385.78 – $144,149.72 (shifts differential not reflected).
