Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg

This unit specializes in Neuro Med Surg and comprises 38 beds with a staff of 55 members.

Day Shift: 2 charges (without patients), RN to patient ratio of 4-5:1, and 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCT).

Night Shift: 1-2 charges (depending on staffing), RN to patient ratio of 4-5:1, and 2 PCT.

Estimated patient ratios: 5:1 or 6:1 (not guaranteed).

Equipment used includes IV pumps, seizure monitoring, Bi-pap, C-pap (mostly at night), and glucometer.

The EMR system used is Meditech.

Minimum requirements include 1 year of current Med/Surg experience and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred qualifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, experience in Neuro settings, and familiarity with Meditech.

Typical procedures performed include NIH stroke assessments and neuro assessments, fall risk assessments, tracheostomy care, and feeding tube management.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with the neuro patient population and possess experience in this specialty. Key attributes desired include strong initiative and collaboration skills, excellent critical thinking abilities, flexibility and adaptability in dynamic situations, and a positive, energetic, and engaging attitude towards patient care.
