Experience – 3 years of Medical/Surgical or Intensive Care experience. Licenses and Certifications – (NLC) Nursing Licensure Compact‑BNE Current Texas RN (or BNE Compact State) license required. (BLS) Basic Life Support course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required upon hire. Preferred University–approved Continuing Care Transfer Certificate (CCTC) Responsibilities Perform and document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments, taking age‑specific criteria into account. Use assessments with patient/family expectations to develop an appropriate plan of care, maintaining unit competencies and applying critical thinking. Implement nursing interventions based on assessment, document actions, and coordinate interdisciplinary care. Prioritize interventions, identify condition changes via assessment, labs, imaging, and report promptly, taking follow‑up action. Evaluate interventions, modify care as needed, and document changes. Adhere to policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards, while suggesting practice improvements based on research. Educate patients and families, document education provided, obtain feedback, and ensure understanding of post‑discharge care. Communicate effectively across age groups. Orient patients and families to the unit, encourage participation, review the plan of care, explain diet, tests, procedures, medications, and conduct rounds. Report errors promptly, take corrective action, supervise support personnel and new nurses, delegate appropriately within legal parameters. Respond to patient/family complaints effectively; report to Clinical Nurse Manager promptly and use the chain of command to resolve issues. Advocate for patient and family. Participate in performance improvement activities, attend at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and 100% of mandatory educational sessions. Perform other duties as assigned.
