Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care unit requiring prior PICU experience and AR or compact RN licensure.

Details

Work in the 3C Intermediate Care unit, a 13-bed pediatric step-down unit within a 26-bed PICU complex

Patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, and tracheostomy patients stepped down from the PICU

Nurse/patient ratio is 1:3-4 with 1-2 CNA/PCTs per shift for ancillary support

Unit includes Advanced Practice providers and Hospitalists until 11PM, followed by Residents

EMR is EPIC; Pyxis with bar code scanning used for medication administration

Equipment includes GE Dash monitors and long-term ventilators

12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, manager/scheduler driven

Every other weekend required; holidays required as needed; no on-call

Floating required within the ICU cluster (NICU, PICU, Burn PICU, IMCU), with travelers floated first

Requirements

Active RN license (AR or Compact) currently in hand

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS

2-5 years of clinical experience in pediatric specialty required

Prior PICU experience required for consideration in the IMCU due to floating requirements

Recent EPIC EMR experience required

Must test negative for nicotine

Additional Information

Provide intermediate-level nursing care to pediatric patients stepping down from the PICU

Facility is a 359-bed, Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital

RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing

ACH dress code must be followed

Visitation policy allows 2 parents to stay at the bedside

Child Life & Education specialists support patient schooling needs during prolonged hospitalization

Previous travel experience (at least one assignment) preferred

Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius for local rate eligibility
