About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Oncology Medical Surgical Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Experience: 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: 1 year of experience with 1 travel assignment in specialty Description: Unit staffed with 29 beds. Travelers will only work on the oncology floor. Ratios are 1:5, with occasional 1:6. Central monitoring is available; reading strips is not a requirement. Nurse aides are generally present, with about 3 on duty daily. Every other weekend is required. Staff will rotate for holiday coverage. Scrub color is Caribbean Blue. Floating to other units is rare and only in unusual circumstances. Common diagnoses include acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and end-of-life care. Patients from the outpatient area may come to the floor to finish treatment if running late. Charting is done using an electronic medical record system.
