Process Engineer

A Process Engineer is responsible for creating, documenting, developing, and implementing procedures used to assemble, process, test and/or manufacture complex sheet metal fabrications and complex machined assemblies for the aerospace and land-based industries. Please note that we are seeking a senior team member with at least 7 years of aerospace engineering experience.

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop written processes in accordance with customer-supplied drawings to produce end product that meets blueprint and quality requirements.
• Work with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing groups to identify needs for process improvements and provide engineering solutions to identified problems.
• Responsible for product life cycle from PO receipt until the shipment of end product. This includes bill of material creation, tooling development, creating and maintaining shop routings and operation sheets, providing shop technical support through the development and production cycle while maintaining quality requirements. When necessary, provide interim maintenance to already developed product.
• Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers, relaying technical information and providing program management support.
• Follow quality system procedures as required.

Requirements:

• Four-year engineering degree or equivalent.
• Seven years minimum of relevant aerospace engineering experience is required. Tool design experience would be beneficial, but is not required.
• The ideal candidate must have a strong background in blueprint reading, GD&T, and specification interpretation.
• Must possess either 3D (Siemens NX) or AutoCAD experience.
• Must possess knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Knowledge of PPAP or other processes related to product introduction.
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP software.
• Knowledge of measurement tools and methods (calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, CMM, etc.)

Software/Tools Used:

• Siemens NX or AutoCAD (3D CAD) – version TBD (Tracy to confirm).
• Sightline (ERP/MRP system – went live ~1 year ago).
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•  Measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, CMM – note: candidate will not program or calibrate the CMM).

Top 3 Skills/Must haves:

• Strong manufacturing process engineering experience (especially machining – this is currently weighted more heavily than pure aerospace).
• Ability and willingness to provide hands-on shop-floor support and troubleshooting (fully on-site role; no remote/desk-only candidates).
• Solid blueprint reading, GD&T, and specification interpretation (plus U.S. Citizenship).

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Aerospace industry experience (helpful for customer specs/tolerances, but secondary to strong manufacturing process skills).
• Experience working with tool designers / ability to “speak the language” of tool design.
• Knowledge of PPAP or other product introduction processes.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (Sightline is a plus).
• Experience with precision measurement tools and methods.
• Strong work ethic, team orientation, and ability to communicate effectively with shop-floor personnel, Quality, and customers.
