ROADWAY SUPERINTENDENT

Position Summary Branch's Civil Division is searching for a highly skilled, team-oriented Roadway Superintendent to join our well-established, growing company. Jointly responsible with the Project Manager for the overall success of the project. Responsible for meeting schedules, controlling costs, and managing manpower and equipment on assigned projects. Provides continuous hands‑on field supervision of all construction operations, including subcontractors and other construction related personnel; directing them in the planning, scheduling, and execution of work on time, within budget, and with high standards of workmanship. Attains or exceeds profit goals and promotes workplace safety while meeting or exceeding owner's expectations. Promotes a positive company image. Duties / Responsibilities Build projects in accordance with all plans and specifications In concert with the Project Manager, develop a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicate to all employees Effectively utilize resources, i.e. people, equipment, and materials Supervise subcontractors (if applicable) to ensure quality and schedule requirements Preplan and communicate project activities. Plans ahead. Prior to construction, review with Project Manager and submit comments on detail budget, time restraints, cost codes, and purchase control Review cost status report for accuracy and integrity. Investigate and take corrective action in areas of indicated or potential overruns. Maintain or improve margin through well‑planned and improved operations. Establish a level of quality by which all completed work is measured Responsible for day‑to‑day quality control of both company‑performed and subcontractor work and ensures that work conforms to Contract requirements and company standards. Identify and correct non‑conforming work expeditiously and competently Duties / Responsibilities (cont.) Be in direct charge of safety and accident/incident control for the project. Understand, communicate and enforce safety policy on project at all times. Model safety conscious behavior for other employees to emulate Effectively motivate employees to achieve desired results Establish positive relationships with owners, owner's reps, architects, and engineers Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Working knowledge of standards, specifications, codes, regulations and laws Knowledge of construction techniques 8+ years highway/site construction experience 3–5 years in a supervisory position Managed highway/site projects up to $50 MM DOT experience required Good oral and written communication skills Working knowledge of OSHA regulations Preferred Qualifications NCDOT/VDOT experience Experience as a Roadway Superintendent Compensation Data Salary Min: $91,266 Salary Max: $156,470 Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors. Supervisory Responsibility Directly supervises three to eight employees and consultants involved in each project. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full‑time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on‑call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
