Sunny View Retirement Community Full-Time Benefited Position: Tuesday-Saturday: 6am-2:30pm Hourly Range: $35.00-$37.00 This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of kitchen workers to prepare and cook food for facility residents and employees, as well as assisting in organizing and directing food preparation for special occasions.

Essential Functions

• Assists in managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and its employees. • Coordinates food production schedules and ensures the highest quality, taste, and presentation. • Participates in food preparation, produces food consistently high in quality, taste, and presentation, and expedites food items. • Drafts kitchen goals, anticipates and resolves problems concerning all facets of the kitchen, anticipates trends, and enacts approved profit-oriented and cost-saving ideas/activities. • Assured adherence to all health department, sanitation, and food handling guidelines regarding quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation; trained kitchen staff. • Conducts regular inspections of the entire kitchen/dishwashing areas and coolers and promptly acts to correct deficiencies found during the inspection. • Ensures that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared to serve promptly. • Monitors holding and storage operations, stocking, and food rotation and guarantees that food service sanitation standards are met. • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Decision Making/Organization Skills: • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

Education or Equivalent Qualifications

Essential/Preferred Type Specialization Equivalent Experience instead of Education Essential High School/GED General Preferred Associate Degree Culinary Arts

Experience or Equivalent Qualifications

Essential/Preferred Minimum Experience Details Essential 5 years food service experience as a cook Preferred 2 years Lead cook with knowledge of food safety, sanitation, proper storage, and handling procedures.
