The Division Chief shall serve as the leader of their division and achieve clinical, research and academic programmatic goals while providing financial oversight of the Division. In addition, the division chief shall provide patient care services and will support the Phoenix Children's mission of providing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families. Position Duties Patient Care Services Provide patient care services for which the Division Chief is clinically privileged, including but not limited to: Provide direct patient care services on an inpatient and outpatient basis Provide subspecialty consultations and follow‑up Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures Provide urgent/emergent care as necessary Strive to achieve the best patient and family‑centered care Support Hospital’s patient satisfaction goals and develop division‑specific targets Support and develop divisional patient safety and quality of care standards Practice contemporary evidence‑based medicine or latest experience‑based medicine Divisional Responsibilities Provide clinical and administrative leadership of the division in collaboration with the COO, director, and/or manager Act as key liaison between the division, Phoenix Children’s, and PCMG executive management Monitor the division’s financial, productivity, and quality performance; take action to attain established targets and goals Participate in development of and submission of the budget for the division with support from PCMG administration Establish quality metrics for the division Establish annual staff physician goals and objectives in collaboration with individual physicians within their division Evaluate the performance of the physicians in the division annually and establish remediation plans for underperforming physicians Demonstrate effort to achieve annual division chief goals and objectives (e.g., personal, division, hospital) Review community needs for programmatic growth and develop strategies for implementation (recruitment of physicians, identification of resources, participation in operational strategies) Support and/or develop medical education programs and activities of the division (supervise trainees, conduct teaching rounds, lectures, conferences, etc.) Provide vision and develop research endeavors of the division Support and/or develop satellite expansion as needed Hold divisional meetings regularly and communicate institutional messages to staff promptly Provide a means for staff physician feedback to the division chief Professionalism Treat colleagues, Phoenix Children’s employees, and customers with courtesy, dignity, and respect Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional health care environment Support Phoenix Children’s mission, vision, and values (family‑centered care, excellence, leadership, collaboration, accountability) Other Activities Act as liaison to the professional community and general public Interface with Phoenix Children’s foundation when applicable Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside of Phoenix Children’s if they support divisional clinical and teaching programs Represent Phoenix Children’s in the medical and business communities and before the general public in a professional manner Physical and mental skills: communicate by telephone, computer or other communication devices; perform after‑hours or night call responsibilities as needed; work regularly scheduled hours Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested Physical Requirements & Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential Physical Requirements: Feeling (sensing textures and temperatures) – Frequently Fine motor skills (pinching, gripping, etc.) – Frequently Hearing – Frequently Pushing/pulling – Occasionally Reaching – Occasionally Sitting – Frequently Standing – Frequently Stooping/crouching/kneeling/crawling – Occasionally Talking – Constantly Tasting/smelling – Occasionally Walking – Frequently Near vision – Frequently Far vision – Frequently Color discrimination – Frequently Use of keyboard, mouse, and/or computer equipment – Frequently Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance – Occasionally Lift more than 35 pounds without assistance – Occasionally Occupational Exposure/Risk Potential: Inside office environment – Applicable Airborne communicable diseases – Applicable Bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluid – Applicable Fumes or airborne particles – Applicable Hazardous materials exposure – Applicable Radiation exposure – Applicable Toxic or caustic chemicals – Applicable Position Qualifications Education and Credentials MD or DO degree – Required MBA, MPH, or MHA degree, or equivalent – Preferred Experience Leadership experience – Required 5 years in applicable area of specialty – Preferred Special Skills Ability to move freely from facility to facility and examine patients – Required Ability to communicate by telephone, computer, or other communication devices – Required Ability to perform after‑hours or night call responsibilities – Required Ability to work regularly scheduled work hours – Required Ability to work well under pressure – Required Additional Requirements Current Arizona license to practice medicine or ability to obtain prior to start date – Required Board certified/Board eligible in the appropriate specialty – Required #J-18808-Ljbffr Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc.
