High Voltage Test Technician

Integrated Solutions for Systems, Inc.

Job Description

Job Description

High Voltage Test Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking an exceptional High Voltage Test Technician to join our advanced research and development team supporting high-energy pulsed power systems, high-voltage equipment, explosives testing, directed energy systems, and specialized government programs.

This is not a production or maintenance technician position. We are looking for a highly capable, hands-on problem solver who enjoys building one-of-a-kind systems, troubleshooting complex hardware, and working alongside engineers to develop new technologies. The ideal candidate is the person everyone calls when something has to be built, repaired, modified, or made to work.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assemble, modify, and maintain high-voltage and pulsed power systems.
  • Build mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical assemblies from engineering drawings and concepts.
  • Perform troubleshooting on high-voltage systems using systematic diagnostic techniques.
  • Fabricate brackets, fixtures, test hardware, and custom mechanical components.
  • Install and route cables, connectors, hydraulic lines, pneumatic systems, and instrumentation.
  • Assist with integration of diagnostics, sensors, controls, and data acquisition equipment.
  • Support field testing at remote test sites.
  • Operate forklifts, skid steers, cranes, and other shop equipment as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, tooling, and test facilities.
  • Perform testing while maintaining strict adherence to safety procedures for high voltage, explosives, lasers, and other hazardous operations.
  • Document repairs, modifications, and test activities.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in industrial, military, aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Outstanding mechanical aptitude with the ability to build, repair, and fabricate equipment.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment and common shop tools.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to independently solve technical problems with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired Skills

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • High-voltage systems
  • Pulse power equipment
  • Capacitor banks
  • Vacuum systems
  • High-current electrical systems
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Oscilloscopes and electronic instrumentation
  • Welding (MIG/TIG)
  • Machining (manual mill and lathe)
  • CNC equipment
  • CAD software
  • PLCs and industrial controls
  • Electronics assembly and soldering
  • RF systems
  • Fiber optics
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Government or defense testing
  • Military technical experience
  • Security clearance (current or eligible)

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is the type of technician who:

  • Can build almost anything.
  • Figures out why equipment failed instead of simply replacing parts.
  • Has exceptional mechanical intuition.
  • Takes pride in producing clean, professional work.
  • Enjoys learning new technologies.
  • Can move seamlessly between electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and fabrication tasks.
  • Works safely around high-energy systems.
  • Thrives in an R&D environment where every project is different.
  • Is dependable, self-motivated, and willing to do whatever it takes to complete the mission

Benefits Summary

  • Competitive salary with comprehensive health and wellness benefits
  • Dynamic and collaborative work environment
  • Employee ownership
  • Medical, dental, and vision care plans
  • Paid time-off and parental leave programs
  • Group term life insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Tuition Assistance, Training, and education development offerings
