Details Birth Center unit within a Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds Unit includes 9 LDR, 2 OB OR, 2 OB PACU, 11 Level II NICU, 4-bed Peds, 20-bed Mother/Baby, 18-bed START perinatal addiction unit, and 3 OB ED beds Level II Perinatal Center caring for patients 32 weeks and above Handles hypertension, magnesium administration, substance abuse medication management, epidurals, fetal monitoring, and IV management Approximately 175-200 deliveries per month Patient ratios follow AWHONN/NANN guidelines: 1:1 for active labor, 1:2 for non-active laboring 12-hour day/night shifts (0700-1900 or 1900-0700) on a 3-week schedule cycle Rotating weekends required every other weekend No on-call requirements Floating limited to areas of competency, with travelers floating between L&D and Mother/Baby only (not START unit) Uses Epic Stork and GE Centricity EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and HUGS security system Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required Current BLS and NRP certification required Fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN or Relias module) Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required Strong L&D experience including cervical exams, antepartum/labor care, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV therapy, and Pitocin administration Postpartum experience beyond the initial 24-hour transition period, including basic breastfeeding support Experience with couplet care once mother and baby are stable Pyxis medication dispensing experience required Additional Information Deliver comprehensive care across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages including couplet care Support team includes 24/7 hospitalist, laborist OBGYN, respiratory therapy, midwife and family practice groups, and NICU consultation for infants 34 weeks or less No CNAs on the unit; surgery techs available Monday-Friday 0600-1500 and phlebotomy available as needed Orientation includes NEO plus two unit shifts covering delivery and C-section/triage experience, along with core competency and medication exams completed before arrival Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor holiday RTO requests must be approved through the unit manager Scrubs provided and free parking available on-site First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-748775.
