This role coordinates institutional and individual giving efforts, supports donor cultivation and stewardship, and helps ensure fundraising activities are organized, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Working closely with development leadership and teams across the organization, the Development Manager helps translate BWW's programs, impact, and priorities into compelling funding opportunities and maintains the systems and relationships that support a strong development function.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Manage a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and institutional funders, researching prospects and identifying opportunities aligned with BWW's mission and programmatic priorities.
- Draft, coordinate, and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals, applications, reports, and other funder materials, partnering with program and finance staff to gather accurate narratives, outcomes, budgets, and financial information.
- Maintain a comprehensive calendar of grant deadlines, reporting requirements, renewals, and funder commitments, tracking deliverables, and ensuring internal teams are informed of relevant requirements.
- Support the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors, developing strategies to deepen supporter engagement and re-engage lapsed donors.
- Coordinate donor acknowledgments, updates, and relationship touchpoints, maintaining consistent communication and creating meaningful opportunities for engagement with BWW's work.
- Partner with development and organizational leadership to prepare for donor and funder meetings and cultivation activities and coordinate timely follow-up communications.
- Coordinate annual giving campaigns, appeals, and digital, mail, and event-based fundraising initiatives, developing timelines, work plans, and project management systems for effective execution.
- Track and evaluate campaign performance, providing progress updates toward established goals and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate donor, funder, prospect, and gift information in BWW's development systems, managing gift tracking, records, prospect pipelines, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor data quality, resolve incomplete, duplicate, or inconsistent records, and maintain confidentiality and appropriate stewardship of donor and funder information.
- Produce routine fundraising reports, dashboards, and revenue tracking for development leadership.
- Develop clear, compelling, and respectful funder and donor communications, including donor updates, impact reports, cases for support, and presentations, tailored to different audiences while reflecting BWW's mission, voice, and consistent messaging.
- Partner with program and communications staff to gather stories, outcomes, and program information and to develop fundraising messages and campaign materials.
- Coordinate donor cultivation events, funder briefings, and community engagement opportunities, managing timelines, invitations, materials, logistics, and coordination with staff, vendors, and organizational leaders.
- Track event participation, support post-event stewardship, evaluate event effectiveness, and identify opportunities to connect donors and funders more deeply with BWW's mission and work.
- Collaborate with programs, finance, communications, policy, and organizational leadership to align fundraising with organizational priorities and contribute development information to planning, reporting, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Serve as a reliable development resource for staff on funder and donor processes, ensuring grant and donor commitments are clearly communicated and supporting onboarding and training for staff who contribute to development.
- Maintain organized development workflows, calendars, templates, and standard operating procedures, tracking multiple projects and deadlines and identifying ways to improve processes, documentation, and efficiency.
- Coordinate work with consultants, vendors, volunteers, and other development partners, and contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and responsive team culture.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of BWW's mission and organizational goals.
Required Qualifications

- Experience maintaining donor, funder, prospect, and gift information in a CRM or development database.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments, exercising sound judgment and discretion with confidential donor and organizational information.
- Commitment to health equity, racial justice, gender justice, reproductive justice, and community-centered work.
