Registered Nurse OR I/OR II ($15,000.00 Hiring Bonus)

Utilizes a systematic approach to nursing practice incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides continuing health care and education to individuals and families to help them achieve optimal health. Schedule: 4 × 10 days. Day off TBD. Hiring Bonus: $15,000.00 Responsibilities Collaborate with the healthcare team to complete pre‑operative physical, cognitive, spiritual, and psychosocial assessments of patients awaiting surgery. Formulate and continuously revise plans of care based on patient age and developmental level. Maintain accurate information management and documentation per hospital policy; provide timely, thorough reports to team members using designated hand‑off tools. Perform circulating duties in the operating suite, supervise surgical technologists, and ensure the Time Out procedure is performed. Assist in patient positioning, comfort, safety, and specimen handling; enforce asepsis standards. Assess patient/family understanding and educational needs; redirect care as needed. Support operating room setup: prepare sterile field, use Surgeon Preference Card, gather supplies, and ensure proper handling of instruments. Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and providing instruments promptly; maintain instrument counts and manage traffic in/out of the OR. Handle housekeeping duties and room cleaning after cases. Assist in other ORs, prepare for next day’s schedule, restock supply areas, update Surgeon Preference Cards, and participate in committee work. Maintain “The Joint Commission” standards and support readiness for visits; participate in departmental performance‑improvement activities. Follow AORN guidelines and provide patient care and education to all patient populations served. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care and family education; assist the physician in patient delivery. Apply knowledge of all ages and developmental levels to care given. Communicate concisely with patients, families, and staff; collaborate with the healthcare team. Make assessments and problem‑solve. Possess detailed knowledge of surgical equipment and instruments and their maintenance. Document thoroughly and concisely in any required mode. Work in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Respond quickly and calmly to emergencies and stressful situations. Independently manage multiple priorities. Utilize computer programs to manage work. Be flexible with daily assignments across surgical specialties; float to both campuses as needed. Required Qualifications Registered nurse with graduate from an accredited school and current state license. Minimum of one year of prior OR experience. Current CPR (BLS) certification. ACLS and PALS certification within six months of hire. Experience using a personal computer and electronic medical records. Preferred Qualifications Two years of experience in an acute hospital setting; pediatric experience preferred. Three years of acute hospital experience and two years of OR experience as both circulating and scrub nurse. Pediatric experience preferred.
