Systems Specialist

Vinson Technical PositionVinson is a leading distributor of industrial process control, pressure protection, control systems, and services in the southwest region of the US including North, East, West Texas, Oklahoma, Western Arkansas, and New Mexico. A core member of the DeltaV Project Execution team, providing leadership to Vinson's and Emerson's projects from a hardware/system perspective. This technical position will also require support of the Lifecycle Services business as a subject matter expert related to the DeltaV System hardware, electrical, communications, PCs/Networking and packaging. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Assist in Front End Project StudiesAnalyze Power and Grounding (As Found and Requirements)Review/Approve System bill of material and architecturesReview/Approve Enclosure design requirementsCutover Planning and ExecutionPerform Site Initialization and InspectionDeltaV PC/Server and Networking Equipment setup and configurationAssist in Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (in conjunction with System Engineer)Construction ManagementManage Cutover, Commissioning and Loop-check Activities (including DeltaV configuration changes and navigating DeltaV applications)Initialize and Troubleshoot Communications: Ethernet, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, DevicenetLifecycle Support of Systems (Subject Matter Expertise to Lifecycle Services organization)The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required, with or without reasonable accommodation.Education, Skills and/or Experience:Associates Degree in Relevant Technical DegreeMinimum of 2-3 Years of relevant experience performing similar project workProficiency in A/C and D/C power and groundingProficiency in the use of electrical test equipmentExperienced with DCS and/or PLC control systemsProficiency with Windows-based computers and associated operating systemsCompetency in motor controls and instrumentationCompetency in Ethernet-based and Twisted Pair communications protocolsExperience with design and reading/interpretation of engineering design documents such as P&IDs, Electrical One Lines, Plot PlansIdeal candidate has DeltaV training and experiencePhysical and Mental:Ability to function in a high stress environment during Testing, Start-ups, Troubleshooting and DeploymentHighly motivated, self-starter who can be effective in a team or a solo assignmentMust have the ability to meet deadlinesMust have good written and verbal communications skills with ability to convey thoughts and negotiate in multi-discipline team environmentsAble and willing to travel via airplane or long (4-6 hour) car trips to/from customer sites for short visits and/or extended stay visits of a week or longer. Overnight travel is anticipated at an average of 40-50%, and can require extended travel of several weeks during startups.
