Pay Rate: $52.33

Scope of Work:  

The Maintenance Mechanic/Carpenter performs maintenance and repairs to equipment, facilities, and structures as they pertain to his/her trade under the direct supervision of his/her immediate superior. The position performs a combination of mechanical maintenance and carpentry duties, including the construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building components, wooden fixtures, and related equipment. 

Responsibilities:  

• Examine machines, mechanical equipment, building components, and structures to diagnose the source of trouble, determine needed repairs, and restore them to proper operating condition. 
• Repair machinery and mechanical equipment by dismantling or partially dismantling equipment, replacing broken or defective components, reassembling equipment, and making necessary adjustments for operation. 
• Construct, install, maintain, and repair wooden fixtures, structures, partitions, doors, frames, cabinets, shelving, flooring, and other building components. 
• Perform rough and finish carpentry work, including framing, measuring, cutting, shaping, fitting, assembling, and fastening wood and related materials. 
• Perform painting, staining, sealing, finishing, and surface preparation as required to complete assigned carpentry and maintenance work. 
• Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, specifications, work orders, and other technical documents to plan and complete assigned work. 
• Operate and maintain carpenter's hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and other trade equipment in a safe and effective manner. 
• Estimate materials and determine the type and quantity of supplies needed to complete assigned maintenance and carpentry tasks. 
• Obtain replacement parts and materials from stock; coordinate specially fabricated parts through a machine shop when needed; and prepare written specifications for major repairs or custom items. 
• Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, company standards, and customer requirements. 
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, materials used, and completed work. 
• Ensure work areas are cleaned and restored after maintenance and carpentry tasks are completed. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements:  

• Must be able to perform Carpenter duties including framing, finish work, painting, staining, design, construction, installation, and repair of wooden fixtures and custom wood products. 
• Must possess rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience in maintenance mechanic and electrician work. 
• Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, electrician's hand tools, measuring and testing instruments, and appliances needed for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, circuits, fixtures, and hardware. 
• Must be able to follow maintenance instructions, schedules, inspections, work orders, and other job assignments. 
• Must be able to perform maintenance services, diagnose system or equipment malfunctions, and complete repairs when required. 
• Must be able to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and other technical documents. 
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position. 
• Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices. 
• Must hold and maintain a Tier 3 (Secret Clearance) or Tier 5 background check (Top Secret / SCI Clearance), as required for the position. 
• Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:  

• Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work from a scissor lift and/or articulating boom lift. 
• Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays. 
• Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.    

US Pay Range

$52.33—$52.33 USD
