(PSI) is seeking an experienced Certified Wastewater Treatment Supervisor to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of a wastewater treatment facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This leadership role is ideal for a highly skilled wastewater professional who thrives in a hands-on environment while managing plant operations, personnel, safety, and compliance requirements.
The Certified Wastewater Treatment Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient treatment plant performance, maintaining regulatory compliance, supervising operations staff, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Position Overview:
The Certified Wastewater Treatment Supervisor serves as the lead operator responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant. This position provides technical oversight, operational leadership, staff coordination, regulatory reporting support, and maintenance planning while ensuring plant processes meet all federal, state, local, and permit requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, advanced wastewater treatment knowledge, and the ability to make operational decisions that support safety, reliability, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise daily wastewater treatment plant operations and staff activities.
• Monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, and optimize treatment processes to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of pumps, motors, blowers, feeders, valves, SCADA systems, and related equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and corrective repairs for plant systems and equipment.
• Ensure all operational logs, reports, laboratory records, and compliance documentation are accurate and maintained.
• Review laboratory testing results and implement operational adjustments as necessary.
• Manage chemical inventory, application, and safety procedures in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Coordinate wastewater sampling, testing, monitoring, and reporting activities.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits, and permit compliance requirements.
• Lead and develop plant personnel through training, coaching, and performance oversight.
• Promote and enforce plant safety programs, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with PSI leadership, client representatives, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to operational emergencies as required.

Required Qualifications:

• South Dakota Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator Level II Certification (Required).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 3 years of wastewater treatment operations experience.
• Prior supervisory, lead operator, or management experience preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including biological, mechanical, and chemical treatment systems.
• Experience with laboratory sampling, testing, and regulatory compliance reporting.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance experience with treatment plant equipment.
• Ability to interpret operational data, laboratory results, and process performance metrics.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test. This position is also subject to the company’s random drug testing policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional Water Treatment or Wastewater Certifications.
• Experience with industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
• Experience working with SCADA and computerized control systems.
• Knowledge of EPA, NPDES, and South Dakota regulatory requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work around wastewater treatment equipment, chemicals, and process systems.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts when necessary.
