Labor and Delivery RN

Role Overview The Women’s Resource Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the RN Practice Act, providing holistic, individualized care for perinatal, postnatal, and GYN patients. They utilize therapeutic communication, ensure a safe environment, and coordinate interdisciplinary care aligned with the hospital’s mission and values. As acting charge nurse, they oversee daily activities, make staff assignments based on patient needs, serve as a clinical resource, and respond promptly to staff, physician, and patient requests. They may float to Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, and OB/GYN ER departments. Key Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver holistic care. Demonstrate knowledge of human development, assessment, and treatment tailored to patient age groups. Provide care related to pregnancy, labor, birth, and GYN complications, respecting individual spiritual and cultural needs. Maintain competency in peri-operative care, fetal monitoring, PACU recovery, and documentation. Educate patients and document understanding effectively. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current RN licensure. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and fetal monitoring (or within specified timeframes). Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, with experience in at least two of the following areas: L&D, Mother/Baby, High Risk OB, or ER. #J-18808-Ljbffr
