Job Location: Vancouver, WA (NWE) Anticipated Start Date: 10/01/2026 Number of Positions: 1 Salary Range: $128,430 - $142,700 Salary Band: 31 The BNSF Railway Engineering Department is responsible for designing, constructing, and maintaining the infrastructure of our extensive rail network. This crucial role involves applying advanced engineering principles to address complex challenges, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. Join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of freight transportation and make a significant contribution to one of the top railroads in North America. This is a full-time job that is located in Vancouver, WA Travel required approximately 25% - 50% Key responsibilities may include: Assist the GDLM/Division Engineers in directing the ongoing prioritization , scheduling and execution of the capital maintenance activities across the division associated with the Division construction gang. Responsible for maintenance activities with BNSF Service Outcome Agreement requirements. Responsible for communication with BNSF Passenger Ops, NOC, Division Transportation, and other stakeholders related to BNSF Maintenance activities impacting the BNSF Service Outcome Agreement. Ensure compliance with safety rules , work practices, labor policies, regulatory requirements and personnel hiring and training objectives across the division Manage capital and operating budgets for the BNSF workgroups and work program as well as Capital Construction gang. Assist in Division coverage for emergency response , Manager Weekend Duty coverage, Capital Construction program, and Capital Maintenance program. Ensure compliance with and consistent application of company policies (e.g., BNSF's Equal Employment Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy; applicable safety rules; union agreements; FRA standards and government regulations) Maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization , including working difficult issues within and across departmental boundaries and handling conflicting demands from multiple supervisors Make decisions and take action with consideration for a wide range of factors beyond the immediate situation and an understanding of the future desired state of the organization Display a high energy level, focus, and an appropriate sense of urgency for taking action and getting things accomplished based on business priorities Demonstrate a genuine interest in the learning and development of others by assessing individual abilities, strengths and development needs and facilitating a plan for development Actively promote and foster diversity within the work environment by building on differences among people as a way to promote new ideas and thinking and treating others with dignity and respect Daily work is conducted in an indoor/outdoor safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery. Basic Qualifications: Current BNSF employees with FLS Certification Must have obtained Tier III certification from a Manager of Engineering Certification Possess working knowledgeofrailroad union agreements Self-directed, motivated, and able to communicate effectively (orally or in writing) in one-on-one or group settings Knowledgeofsaferailroad operations and practices Safety-conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process Commitmenttoestablishingsaferwork practices toward the ultimate goal of an injury-free workenvironment Expertise in using engineering computer systems for data entry, management ofthe work plan and work analysis Knowledge of BNSF Engineering Instructions, FRA Track Safety Standards and MOWGeneral Code of Operating Rules Experience in supervising Engineering field forces (Signal, Structures, Track, Roadway Equipment) and Engineering maintenance activities Able to work safely in the above working conditions Subject to being 'on call' requiring response to emergencies at any time Able to meet the above travel requirements Able toclimb on/off equipment Able to bend, walk, stand and sit occasionally with breaks Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field Strong knowledge of BNSF Engineering processes MRP and/or ADMP experience Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) Minimum of5yearsof supervisory experience Knowledge of various accounting information systems, budgets (operating, capital and suspense authority) At BNSF, you will have access to a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including: An industry-leading 401(k) and renowned Railroad Retirement program.
