As a Tile / Shingle / Metal Roofing Foreman, you are responsible for leading and executing steep-slope roofing installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance projects in the field. This role oversees crew performance, jobsite execution, safety compliance, quality control, and customer communication while ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to TraVek’s workmanship standards.
The Roofing Foreman is the on-site leader and technical expert for tile, shingle, and metal roofing systems. You are accountable for proper system installation, flashing details, underlayment application, material staging, jobsite organization, and crew productivity. This position requires strong leadership, technical craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain quality and safety standards while meeting production timelines.
You will set the tone on the jobsite by leading with professionalism, accountability, urgency, and quality.

- Shingle Systems
- Knowledge of architectural and specialty asphalt shingles
- Proper underlayment installation (synthetic, felt, ice & water shield)
- Correct nail patterns and fastening requirements
- Ridge vent installation and ventilation best practices
- Tile Roofing Systems
- Knowledge of concrete and clay tile systems
- Proper battens and fastening techniques
- Valley metal installation and flashing integration
- Broken tile repair and replacement procedures
- Metal Roofing Systems
- Knowledge of standing seam and exposed fastener systems
- Proper panel layout, fastening methods, and clip systems
- Understanding expansion/contraction considerations
- Installation of trim, flashings, and penetration details
- Flashing & Waterproofing
- Proper installation of step flashing, counter flashing, valley metal, drip edge, pipe flashings, and skylight details
- Identification and correction of water intrusion risks
- Ability to identify decking deficiencies and coordinate repairs
Crew Leadership & Management
- Direct and supervise roofing crew members daily
- Assign tasks and monitor productivity
- Ensure proper installation techniques and adherence to manufacturer specs
- Train and develop crew members in roofing craftsmanship
- Maintain jobsite discipline and professionalism
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and oversee use of roofing tools (nail guns, shears, seamers, brake, etc.)
- Ensure ladders, lifts, fall protection, and tools are properly maintained
- Identify equipment issues and coordinate repairs
Material Management
- Oversee loading and unloading of roofing materials
- Stage materials efficiently for safe and productive workflow
- Track material usage and minimize waste
- Ensure materials are protected from weather exposure
Jobsite Setup & Preparation
- Ensure proper fall protection and safety systems are in place
- Confirm access and staging areas are safe and efficient
- Protect landscaping, driveways, and surrounding structures
- Maintain clean and organized jobsite
Quality Control
- Conduct daily jobsite quality inspections
- Verify proper fastening patterns and installation methods
- Inspect flashing details and water management components
- Identify and correct workmanship deficiencies before final inspection
- Minimize “go-back” or warranty issues
Cleanup & Close-Out
- Ensure thorough daily cleanup
- Conduct magnetic sweeps for nails and debris
- Oversee proper disposal of materials
- Complete punch list prior to final inspection
Safety Compliance
- Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Ensure proper use of fall protection systems (harnesses, anchors, guardrails)
- Conduct daily safety briefings
- Report incidents or safety concerns immediately
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years experience in tile, shingle, or metal roofing installation required
- Prior experience leading a crew strongly preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and fall protection requirements
- Experience with steep-slope roofing systems
- Ability to read work orders, scopes of work, and plans
- Basic computer/CRM skills for documentation and reporting
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
This will be a non-exempt and paid on the piece-rate system.
