We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Hospital and EMU Rounder - Nocturnist at our Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

• Deliver thorough overnight medical care, which includes managing admissions, cross-coverage, acute clinical issues, responding to medical emergencies and codes, facilitating patient throughput and disposition, and providing overnight coverage for designated skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) as needed.

• Assess and manage patients in the Extended Monitoring Unit (EMU), which involves clinical reassessment, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, collaboration with consultants and the daytime Hospital Medicine team, and determining the best course of action, whether observation, inpatient admission, or discharge.

• Collaborate with the Emergency Department, consultants, nursing, and care management teams to evaluate the necessity of hospitalization and the appropriate level of care for newly admitted patients.

• Encourage the effective use of hospital resources and explore alternative care pathways when clinically suitable.

• Respond swiftly to urgent clinical situations, rapid patient deterioration, and overnight care requirements, including coordinating specialty consultations as necessary.

• Maintain clear communication with patients, families, nursing staff, consultants, Emergency Department teams, and the multidisciplinary care team.

• Ensure safe transitions of care by providing clear and comprehensive handoffs to the daytime Hospital Medicine team.

• Complete precise and timely clinical documentation, including admission evaluations, progress notes, and other necessary records.

• Work independently during overnight shifts while closely collaborating with the broader Hospital Medicine team to deliver safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care.

• MD or DO degree

• Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine

• Current licensure or the ability to obtain licenses in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia

The starting annual salary for this role is $280,000, which takes into account the applicant's skills, qualifications, relevant degrees and certifications, training, market data, and other pertinent factors.
