Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team and learn all aspects of the pipe fabrication business. This role primarily involves operating a large lathe machine to cut, thread, and flange ductile iron pipes for water treatment plants and related projects. As an entry-level machine operator, you will gain hands-on experience with various types of pipes and fittings.

Responsibilities

• Operate large lathe machines for cutting, threading, and flanging ductile iron pipes.
• Engage in general labor duties as required.
• Learn and apply mechanical aptitude to operate specific machines.
• Utilize hand tools and interpret blueprints to assist in pipe fabrication.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 75 lbs. daily.
• Learn to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn machine operations.
• Ability to work with hand and power tools.
• Capability to interpret blueprints and schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience running a manual lathe is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of the water/wastewater industry or plumbing experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with tolerances and experience in pipe fabrication is advantageous.

Work Environment

Work in a small shop with 6-8 employees, part of a larger team of 42-52 across the Midwest. The environment can be dirty with various machines and piping around the shop. Steel-toed shoes and long pants are mandatory at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Bettendorf,IA.
