Assistant Cross Country Coach – Waterville Senior High School Anticipated Start Date: Fall Sport Season The Waterville Public School System serves over 2,000 students of all ages in and near Waterville, Maine. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cross Country Coach to support our student-athletes both on and off the course. The ideal candidate will assist with planning and leading practices, mentoring runners, promoting sportsmanship, and helping to build a positive, team-focused culture. This position is a great opportunity for someone passionate about distance running and committed to helping students grow in skill, confidence, and character. The city of Waterville is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and is easily accessible from two exits off I-95 as well as Route 201. Primary Responsibilities Carry out the aims and objectives of the sport program as outlined by the Head Coach. To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Full job description available online at: Assist head coach with issues, collection and the overall care of uniforms, and equipment; Distributes and collects, when necessary, parent permission forms, records of physical exams, and other paperwork required by the athletic department; Secures school facilities and equipment after each use; Supervises athletes at all times, including games (home and away), practices, and other team functions; Reviews, when appropriate, the student athletic handbook with team members, with special attention being given to academic eligibility and the substance abuse policies; Promotes the proper care of equipment, uniforms, and facilities at all times; Cooperates with head coach and other staff members and discusses confidential matters privately with appropriate personnel; Strives to improve coaching skills by attending clinics and using resources provided by the head coach; Perform additional tasks as directed.
